The theme of the conference is “No one is left behind”, and the main objective is to mobilise action by all towards finding concrete – practical, innovative, and collaborative – solutions to address water scarcity in agriculture and achieve food security, socioeconomic development through agriculture, resilience, and sustainable management of natural resources. Under the patronage of Cape Verde and in collaboration with Italy and FAO, The Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG) announces its 1st International Forum on Water Scarcity in Agriculture to be held in Praia, Cape Verde from 19 to 22 March 2019, to coincide with the celebration of World Water Day 2019 which this year adopts the theme of ‘Leaving no one behind’.
The forum aims at identifying concrete – practical, innovative, and collaborative – solutions to address water scarcity in agriculture in a changing climate. With a focus on Cape Verde, SIDS, and West African countries, the forum is expected to illustrate how water scarcity in agriculture can be addressed and turned into an opportunity for sustainable development and food and nutrition security. The forum is open to partners, stakeholders, academics, practitioners, and policymakers from the public and private sectors and civil society.
