Co-Organisers: SITE4Society at UNU-MERIT, in collaboration with the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) and the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies (IESS), University of Ghana
This forum is an interactive multi-stakeholder forum on co-designed innovative solutions for inclusive and sustainable urban environments through efficient Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM). It seeks to bring together experienced researchers, young scholars, academics, policymakers, private sector, NGOs, and civil society groups from Africa and Europe to discuss and share ideas, research findings, and innovative models on key aspects of waste management for sustainable development.
Two significant contributions are aimed to be achieved: first, knowledge sharing on diverse issues in different cities to build collective insight into the nature of possible pathways to sustainability transitions; second, exploration of possible cooperation pathways between Europe and emerging and developing countries, to contribute to these transitions. The expected outputs would not only be academic, but also of practical social value.
UNU-FLORES expert Prof. Hiroshan Hettiarachchi will be supporting the organisers at the forum.
The forum is part of the Climate Resilience and Waste Management for Sustainable Development (CReWAS) Conference (16–17 October 2019).
