Organisers: Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden) and UNU-FLORES in cooperation with the Global Water and Climate Adaptation Centre (ABCD) Consortium
This session is organised by the consortium of the Global Water and Climate Adaptation Centre – Aachen-Bangkok-Chennai-Dresden (ABCD), which will be working on the climate change-water security nexus from 2021 until 2025.
During the session “Water Security and Climate Change Adaptation: understanding the complexity of a global challenge”, the speakers mentioned above provide short impulse presentations in which they highlight that in order to accomplish SDG-6 (Water Security), other SDGs such as SDG-13 (Climate Action) or SDG-14 (Life below water) and SDG-15 (Life on land) equally have to be achieved.
The event builds on recent UN activities in this area (including the 2019 UN Conference and the 2020 UN Consultation), as well as the Global Goals 2020 International Symposium co-hosted by the CISD, SSRP and partners.
The event will provide a platform for exchange on the latest scientific findings in the field of sustainability research, covering from attainability of sustainable development over extreme events, resilience, social cohesion and well-being to climate change, biodiversity, diet and health.
The event is the bi-annual series of the German Future Earth Summits organised by the German Committee Future Earth (Deutsches Komitee für Nachhaltigkeitsforschung, DKN).
The topics covered in the event are related to UNU-FLORES’ activities on the consortium of the Global Water and Climate Adaptation Centre – Aachen-Bangkok-Chennai-Dresden (ABCD), which will be working on the climate change-water security nexus.
