    Background

In collaboration with several partners from academia and industry, UNU-FLORES is supporting the establishment of the Chair for Sustainability and Innovation Management in the Textile Industry at the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. At this stage, in collaboration with TU Dresden, UNU-FLORES trains AUST staff to develop further knowledge in sustainability related to the textile industry and on didactics, and to co-develop course modules.

The first module gives a general introduction to the various topics. Additional course modules provide a more advanced focus on water management and the textile life cycle, focusing on the environment and society.

The academic online workshop’s objectives are to share the project progress with academic experts while receiving feedback and suggestions for further development to provide high-quality modules. Additionally, time is scheduled to network and for the discussion of potential collaboration with external guests.

By gathering constructive feedback around the module structure and content, the project group ensures coverage of all relevant topics within the course modules and best possible preparation of students for their future role as textile engineers and managers aiming for a more sustainable industry.

This online project workshop is the first event in a series of bi-annual project activity.
