    Biographical Statement

    Zainab is a Research Associate at UNU-FLORES, working on the project “Sustainable Transformation in Coal Regions of the Global South”. She has previously worked as a postgraduate researcher, mentor, and consultant on numerous environmental projects for different institutions and exhibits robust experience in multidisciplinary approaches. She was part of the Senkosi Environmental audit team at Kusile coal power station, South Africa to assess its compliance with the water use licence and environmental impact on water resources and the environment.

    Zainab was formerly Programme Development Officer with Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) where she developed various proposals.  She was part of the team testing World Bank’s Poverty-Forests Linkages (PROFOR) toolkit and UNDP’s Mainstreaming Drylands Issues into National Development Frameworks in Uganda. She has also worked as a researcher with the Environmental Engineering group at the University of Pretoria.
