    Biographical Statement

    María Huertas is an environmental researcher dedicated to developing projects focused on air quality, emissions, and energy topics. Her work has been focused on the assessment and development of methodologies and applications that support environmental authorities in the implementation of mitigation and adaptation strategies, based on scientific knowledge, in Latin American countries. In addition, she has worked in academia as a professor and conducted courses related to thermodynamics, energy tendencies, and air quality.

    María Elena is a member of the Mexican National System of Researchers and has published more than ten articles in indexed journals. Currently, she is working on the project “Sustainable Transformation in Coal Regions of the Global South” at UNU-FLORES as a Research Associate.
