Ahead of the RECON 2021 conference, UNU-FLORES Director Prof. Edeltraud Guenther spoke to Business Circle, highlighting the work of PRISMA and the importance of sustainability reporting in the business sector.

“Simply start” – That is what Prof. Edeltraud Guenther recommends to companies which consider implementing sustainability reporting into their business strategy. It is essential to engage employees in the process and learn from other companies’ experiences. However, Prof. Guenther expresses apprehension as to whether business leaders take sustainability reporting seriously, despite its increasing prominence in financial and accounting considerations.

To accelerate measuring and evaluating sustainability, Prof. Guenther, among others, co-founded PRISMA – Centre for Sustainability Assessment and Policy and sits on the management board. The Center is home to more than thirty scientists of various disciplines, conducting fundamental research on economically successful and environmentally and socially sustainable long-term development. UNU-FLORES is a PRISMA member and fosters collaboration among scientists across the network.

Prof. Edeltraud Guenther will be a keynote speaker at this year’s RECON conference, gathering decision makers from the finance, accounting, and controlling sector.
