Dear Readers,
This year presented us with many opportunities to adapt, innovate, and discover new possibilities. Adjusting with the times, we celebrated 75 years of the United Nations in a hybrid format – while observing safe distancing measures at the beautiful Dresden City Hall and a live stream on YouTube. Many thanks to our local partners and all who joined in the celebration, physically and virtually!
Speaking of celebration, we also witnessed the graduation of yet another PhD candidate this quarter. We are also delighted to announce the funding of more PhD researchers with an agreement signed with partners in the region. Our efforts to strengthen research and capacity development in the Resource Nexus have also been boosted with the launch of a new lecture series with new partners. The International Water Colloquium kicked off this month and will be running until December – join us. This is among an exciting line-up of events we have for you in the next quarter.
As we approach the end of 2020, we would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all colleagues, partners, and you in this Nexus community for all your support and making this exceptional year happen. We are proud of the business continuity at UNU-FLORES amid a global pandemic. We wish you a safe and well-deserved holiday season! Meanwhile, stay in touch via our website and see you on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
Stay safe,
Edeltraud Guenther
Director, UNU-FLORES
