One of the aims of the project is to conduct a meta study on the Resource Nexus and perform a specific case study project outside of Europe. This task contributes (in part) to the Global Water and Climate Adaptation Center – Aachen, Bangkok, Chennai, Dresden (ABCD) and a workshop will be held in the context of the ABCD project addressing the Resource Nexus in climate adaptation and water security strategies. The workshop will advance the knowledge on the Resource Nexus in the context of the ABCD project and also seek to adopt a collaborative approach with ABCD partners. The work will also address how the concept of the Resource Nexus could facilitate the transfer of strategies for climate adaptation and being targeted towards local economies and creating societal acceptance. The foreseen output is an indicator-based framework to assess urban water security in the context of climate adaptation preparedness, applied to the four ABCD cities and includes Resource Nexus perspectives.

The next target in the project is to co-author a paper with UNU-FLORES advancing the Resource Nexus concept for more integrated resource management practices. The primary purpose of the paper is to construct validity of the Resource Nexus from the management of environmental resources and to entangle their interlinkages. This will include a literature review to construct validity on the Resource Nexus with a coverage of environmental resources as well as other interlinkages across space and time. Actions consider building resilience and enhancing resource efficiency in cities.

The aims and objectives of the project are connected to other projects dealing with the Resource Nexus including the ABCD project, the agri-food nexus PhD cohort, and lectures for the joint doctoral programmes at UNU-FLORES and TU Dresden. This work includes the conceptualisation and operationalisation of resilience, considering specific properties for agri-food systems.
